8+ Verified BRP-Benefit Countries eVisa Required Updated April 2026

If you hold a Filipino (Philippine) passport and live in the UK with a valid eVisa (the digital replacement for the Biometric Residence Permit), you have access to a growing number of visa-free destinations around the world. Your UK residence status opens additional doors beyond what your Filipino passport alone provides, particularly in Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East.

This guide is specifically written for Filipinos living in the United Kingdom who want to understand their travel options in 2026. We cover every visa-free country available to you through both your UK eVisa status AND your Filipino passport nationality, explain the Schengen visa rules, and provide practical guidance on the BRP to eVisa transition.

Since all UK Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) expired on 31 December 2024 and the grace period ended on 1 June 2025, Filipinos with UK residence must now use the eVisa system to prove their immigration status. This is a free digital record accessible through your UKVI account at gov.uk. Before any international travel, ensure your Filipino passport is linked to your eVisa.

Filipinos are one of the largest migrant communities in the UK, with an estimated 200,000-250,000 Filipino nationals. Many work in the NHS and care sector on Health and Care Worker visas, while others hold Skilled Worker visas, Student visas, or have Indefinite Leave to Remain. This guide covers travel rights for all these visa categories.

Schengen Visa Rules for Filipinos with UK BRP

Filipino Passport Holders: Schengen Visa IS Required

Filipino passport holders MUST apply for a Schengen visa to visit any of the 27 Schengen Area countries, regardless of UK immigration status. Having a UK BRP or eVisa does NOT exempt you from this requirement.

The Schengen visa requirement is determined by your passport nationality, not your country of residence. All 27 Schengen countries require a visa: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

How to Apply from the UK

As a UK-based Filipino, apply through the embassy or visa centre (VFS Global or TLS Contact) of the Schengen country you plan to visit. You will need:

  • Valid Filipino passport (6+ months validity)
  • Proof of UK eVisa status
  • Completed application form
  • Passport photos (biometric)
  • Travel insurance (minimum EUR 30,000)
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Flight reservation (not confirmed ticket)
  • 3-6 months bank statements
  • Employment letter or university enrolment
  • Fee: EUR 80 for adults

Processing typically takes 15 calendar days. Apply well in advance of your trip.

For the complete application process, see our Schengen Visa Guide.

BRP to eVisa Transition for Filipinos

All physical BRP cards expired on 31 December 2024. The grace period ended on 1 June 2025. Filipino BRP holders must now use the eVisa digital immigration status.

If your Filipino passport is expiring, you can renew it at the Philippine Embassy in London (6-11 Suffolk Street, SW1Y 4HG). Processing takes approximately 6-8 weeks. After receiving your new passport, immediately update your UKVI account to link the new passport to your eVisa. You cannot travel until the new passport is linked.

For the full eVisa setup process, see our Digital Immigration Status Guide.

Practical Travel Tips for Filipinos in the UK

  1. Flying home to the Philippines: You do not need a visa to return to the Philippines on your Filipino passport. Direct flights from London Heathrow to Manila (via carriers like Philippine Airlines, Emirates, Singapore Airlines) take 12-16 hours depending on routing. Budget flights via Middle Eastern hubs are often the most affordable.
  2. Balikbayan privilege: If you are a former Filipino citizen (now UK citizen) or an overseas Filipino worker, you may be eligible for the Balikbayan programme allowing visa-free entry to the Philippines for up to 1 year.
  3. ASEAN advantage: Your Filipino passport gives you visa-free access to all ASEAN countries. Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand make excellent stopovers or holiday destinations on the way home to the Philippines.
  4. Dual travel strategy: Combine BRP-benefit destinations (Albania, Serbia, Mexico) with passport-based destinations (ASEAN, South America) for maximum travel flexibility.
  5. Travel insurance: Buy comprehensive cover. NHS coverage does not extend abroad (except limited GHIC coverage in some EU countries). Many Filipino community organisations offer group travel insurance rates.
  6. Keep remittance records: If you send money home via remittance services, keep records. Some Schengen visa applications ask about regular financial commitments.
